Where is the Rwenzori Mountain?
The Rwenzori Mountains lies within the Rwenzori National Park, which was founded in 1991 and the park occupies up to about 1000sq.kms. Kampala via Mbarara city to Queen Elizabeth National Park 450kms or 17kms to Nyakalengija starting starting from Kasese-Fort Portal route or 25kms setting off from the Northern side of Kasese Town to Nyakalengija circuit.
Interestingly, traveling via Queen Elizabeth National Park is a great opportunity for you to also have incredible sight of the park’s diverse wildlife including bush elephants, antelopes, birds and general overview of the breathtaking landscape of the Park etc. From Kibale Forest National Park, Uganda’s popular chimpanzee tracking destination to Rwenzori National Park, it is approximately 140kms.
Air transportation is the fastest means to reach Rwenzori Mountains National Park for your hiking or mountaineering adventures. The chartered or scheduled flights begin from Uganda’s Entebbe International Airport or Kajjansi airfield to Kasese airstrip. From Kasese airstrip, a professional driver guide picks up you for transfer to your accommodation where you will have an overnight stay before starting exploring the Rwenzori Mountains National Park or trekking the Rwenzori Mountains of the Moon.
