This breath-taking trail is nestled with in Mountain Rwenzori National Park, which is located in the southwestern region of Uganda along the border with Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) Mahoma Trail is popularly known of its lush greenery species a good spot for guided nature walks and bird watching experience.

The Mahoma Trail comprises of a rich bio diversity a home to many bird’s species, insects, butterflies, reptiles like the tree horned chameleons among others. it is a good spot for the adventure enthuastic.

While on a visit to Mountain Rwenzori National Park tourists are granted with the opportunity to engage into the Mohama trail experience which lasts for almost three days. This activity usually starts from Ibanda / Nyakalengija trailhead where visitors fully immerse themselves on a foot walk experience and it begins with briefing session.

This experience grant’s chance to guests to see numerous primate species including blue monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys although Lhoest monkeys and elephants are seen occasionally.

Additionally, there are high chances of sighting at the three horned chameleon and a wide variety of bird species including turacos slender billed starling barred long tailed cuckoo, blue headed sun bird, cinnamon, chested bee-eater, white starred, ribbon, Rwenzori batis hand some francolin golden winged sun bird flycatcher among others so its good place for the bird lovers.

The first stop over is at Omuka Kizza Rest Camp which rewards visitors with clear view of the Rwenzori uplands and Kasese City at large.

The Mahoma loop nature walk rewards visitors with chance to view the lake’s surrounding area with the breathtaking atmosphere

Another stop over will be around Lake Mahona except seeing clear views of Mountain Stanely and Baker luckily enough you will see elephants moving in their natural habitat, after the hike you will take a route through Mpanga ridge always remember to take photos for purpose of memories.

However, there are other activities to do on a visit to Mountain Rwenzori National Park including community tours, mountain hiking, Birdwatching among others.

The required items for the hiking exposure include hiking boots /shoes pack enough eatables and energy drinks weather resistant clothes, portable first aid kit, cameras to capture moments, bug spray, hiking gloves, lavatory paper, hats/cap knife among others.
